A boiler breakdown is never convenient, but many issues can be resolved quickly once the cause is identified. Below are seven common problems we encounter across Richmond and London – and how our engineers put them right.
- Low pressure
If your boiler pressure drops below the recommended range, it may shut down. We identify the cause – often a small leak or an issue with the expansion vessel – and restore the correct pressure safely. - No pilot flame or ignition failure
Modern boilers will not fire if ignition is unreliable. We inspect the electrodes, flame sensor and gas supply, replacing faulty components as required. - Frozen condensate pipe
In winter, the external condensate pipe can freeze, causing the boiler to lock out. We thaw the pipe safely and add insulation or reroute the pipework to prevent reoccurrence. - Faulty thermostat or controls
A malfunctioning thermostat or timer can prevent the system responding correctly. We test the controls, recalibrate or replace them, and ensure they communicate properly with the boiler. - Air in the system
Trapped air leads to gurgling radiators and uneven heating. We bleed radiators, check for circulation issues and ensure the system is correctly balanced. - Pump failure
The pump is responsible for moving water throughout your heating system. If it fails, we assess whether repair or replacement is the most cost-effective option. - Kettling due to limescale
Hard water often leads to limescale buildup in London homes. We descale the system and may recommend a magnetic filter or scale reducer to protect the boiler long-term.
Whatever the issue, our Gas Safe registered engineers provide a clear diagnosis and dependable repairs, ensuring your heating system is restored quickly and safely.
